GLAM-Wiki Course

The GLAM-Wiki Course is a collaboration between Wikimedia Israel and the National Library of Israel, intended for cultural institutions, archives, libraries, and museums interested in making their collections and knowledge accessible to the general public through Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects.

The course provides practical tools for integrating images, data, and information from various institutional collections, with the aim of expanding free knowledge and increasing the exposure of cultural content to a global audience.

No prior experience necessary – just curiosity and a desire to take part in the world of free knowledge!

What will you learn in the course?

  • WikiCommons: Uploading images and media files to the world’s largest free repository
  • Wikidata: Creating and updating free databases about people, places, and events
  • Wikipedia: Adding reliable information to existing articles, creating new articles, and using sources from your collections

How does it work?

  • Number of sessions: Four face-to-face meetings
  • Session duration: Six hours each, including a lunch break
  • Course duration: Over two months, with a meeting every two weeks on the same fixed day

Participants will receive personal guidance from the National Library team and Wikimedia Israel volunteers, and will be able to continue contributing independently after the course ends.
