Imagine a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge
That’s our commitment
Wikimedia Israel, in partnership with the Wikimedia Foundation—best known for its flagship project, Wikipedia, the world’s largest free encyclopedia—fosters the creation and accessibility of free, reliable knowledge. At the same time, it encourages critical consumption of information, both for and by Israeli society.
We promote the creation of free content on Wikipedia by leading writing courses and guiding unique educational programs in Hebrew and Arabic, in schools and academic institutions.
We actively support communities that create and share free content on Wikipedia by building capacities, developing knowledge, offering tools, encouraging competitions, and promoting community meetups.
We establish collaborations with cultural institutions, media outlets, social organizations, and NGOs to promote content creation, accessibility of knowledge, and critical engagement with information.
We encourage active citizenship and contributions to free knowledge, while fostering critical thinking about information consumption—on Wikipedia and beyond.
Our writing courses are a fascinating opportunity to explore new topics you’ve always been curious about, or to share the knowledge you’ve accumulated with a broad and diverse audience. Writing on Wikipedia requires adherence to established guidelines, and our courses provide the necessary tools to integrate smoothly into this important project.

This program offers lecturers the opportunity to integrate Wikipedia writing as an academic assignment in semester-long or year-long courses. Students write or expand articles through research, presenting accessible content and citing sources. We provide close support throughout—from article selection to final publication. The result is a relevant and impactful academic task that also benefits society.
