Wikimedia Israel is leading a groundbreaking project that brings together Jewish and Arab students to co-create free knowledge. As part of this program, which serves as an academic assignment in higher education institutions, students write and expand entries in both the Hebrew and Arabic Wikipedias.
This collaborative effort goes beyond developing academic skills; first and foremost, it fosters dialogue between students from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds, reduces negative stereotypes, and promotes a positive campus climate. Most participants report that meaningful connections were formed with their peers during the assignment, describing it as an innovative and deeply enriching experience.
The program is held with the support of the Edmond de Rothschild Foundation and continues to expand annually, aiming to make high-quality knowledge accessible in Hebrew and Arabic while building bridges of understanding and cooperation within Israeli society.
